So you bought your first triathlon suit but do you know how to care for it?After all, your suit has special duties that include keeping your body warm and protect your skin from abrasives.

The very first step you should prepare to take before any is to learn how to put your suit on properly. Suits are meant to form to your body regardless of your shape or size and this is also what makes them difficult to put on. Take a look at your fingers to see that they are trimmed to prevent from accidental snagging or tearing of the suit. The next step is to put on your suit starting at the feet first and then working it up until it reaches the hips. Next, slide your arms into the sleeves, bunching the suit up to your shoulder before moving on. There will be an internal back flap that needs to rest and lay flat against your back. The first aftercare step is to wash it immediately after use. The reason why you wash after use is to get rid of the salt and chlorine that can build up on your suit and eventually weaken the material. You should hang it to dry with a padded hanger to ensure no creases are created. Creasing can cause your triathlon wetsuit to lose its ability to keep out cold water. Likewise; keep your suit away from direct sunlight and heat whenever possible since those two elements can also weaken your suit.
