Wonderful Ideas On Things To Do With children Over The Long Summer break From School
With summer approaching rapidly, it means there will be many children out of school looking for things to do. This also is a time when working parents have to get babysitters or a nanny to take care of their children who are not in school. Instead of having your child waste their whole summer watching TV or playing video games all day long, there are a lot of great activities to do to keep them occupied, happy and stimulated in a good way. This article will discuss a few fun things to do with elementary age children during the summer whether it is to take them fishing and teaching them how to use fishing rods andfishing reels, going horseback riding, teaching them how to play tennis and splashing around at a water park.
Depending on what state you live in, the summer months are the nicest time of the year for being outdoors and doing things in the fresh air. Even if you live in a hot climate such as Florida or Arizona, you can wake up early and get some outdoor time in first part of the morning before it gets too hot. Physical activity is an important element for all people, especially growing and energetic children. Try to allow for at least an hour of physical exercise for the children you are taking care of.
Planning day excursions or mini field trips are always something that kids are excited to do. Try to do a few activities that they have never done before to make it a learning experience too. One day, plan a fishing day and lesson. You can teach them how to operate the fishing pole and how to cast it as well as take the fish off of it if they are old enough. bring a picnic lunch to go along with your fishing excursion and it is sure to be something they will remember. A half day of fishing would be plenty as energetic children could become restless if no fish are biting.
Another fun activity would be to take them to a place with horses that also give horseback riding lesson as well as a trail ride. They can learn how to groom a horse and how to put on the saddle on the horse. This has been said to be great and very therapeutic for children with special needs as well to be able to horseback ride. Find a nearby place that is used to dealing with children and teaching first time riders.
Another great activity to do over the summer with the kids is to take them to a water park. If they are not capable swimmers, then you should make them wear a life vest and obviously stay with them always. This is usually a better activity for a bit older kids that would like riding on water slides and that kind of thing. If that is not an option, spending a day swimming anywhere is always fun and one to completely wear them out by the end of the day too.
