Golfing Holiday Scotland Cramming Some Practice Time into Your Busy Schedule

Sometimes one thing leads to another. One moment you’re friends are showing you how to play golf, the next thing you know you’ve agreed to come with them to a golfing holiday in Scotland. How, you might ask, are you going to practice in preparation for that vacation? Not too confident about your stroke? Too busy to allot hours on the course? Don’t want your friends to know you want to practice hard? Here are some tips that might help you out.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - It Helps to Watch a Lot of Golf

Try to study the swing-motion of the masters, during PGA championships. Tiger Woods, for example, is reported to get in trouble when his swing gets long, and unsynchronised. So watch his backswing & follow through motion. When tiger can control his follow through length, along with his backswing, he tends to be more consistent in hitting the ball. That’s because Tiger’s arms align with his whole body during the swing. There are players who can intuit this even without being able to explain it. The fulcrum of the entire swing movement is the core: the muscles in the stomach and back. Long swings indicate the inability of the arms to keep up with the movement. So watch a master’s swing. Watch a great deal of golf before going on a golfing holiday in Scotland.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - Practice Your Swings

There’s a phenomenon in golf practice, that of being ‘stuck.’ That despite hours of practice and hours of watching instructional videos, you feel as though you’re not getting better. Just go back to the basics of form. On your next practice swing, be sure to hold your end pose. When you swing again, imagine that posture, and make that the result of your swing. Many players tend to waste time with practice swings because they are not aware of golf as a forward-swinging game. This end posture is important. Try to practice this on before your golfing holiday in Scotland.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - Cause and Effect

Try this. Whatever your friends told you about your swing, forget it. This is not to mean they are not trying to help you out. The reason is that average golfers are not trained to spot problems in your swing. A golf swing is a series of motions ruled by cause and effect. Just because we see the effect often means we can accurately spot the causes. For example, players go through some motion during the swing that they do not know is affecting their swing. The sooner you spot the cause the sooner you can change the effect.

Most of these tips have to do with the study of motion as applied to golf. Cause and effect rules our lives. Players ho embrace the point of view of mechanics are better able to discern their swing problems. It's better to be scientific when preparing for your golfing holiday in Scotland. Should you show some signs of improvement though, don’t brag about this to your friends.
