Are You Looking to Provide Superb Back Massages?
We all want to get massages but most of us are reluctant to give them. We're frightened of accidentally causing pain to the other person. The worry of not helping enough is a great one. We're scared that other people will dislike what we are doing. The good news is that you can learn how to give a terrific massage every time you want to do so. Here is how you can give a terrific back massage each time you want to.
To start, see to it that the person is comfortable while he lies down. Firm and soft are the goal in terms of the surface on which they are lying down. You don't have to have a table but try having them lie down on the bed. If they are on the floor, put down some soft blankets, towels or a mat so that the person will feel better. If the person would like to keep his or her shirt on, be sure that it is of a soft material so there will be less friction and itching.
Begin with the standard rub. Using the whole flat side of your hands, rub gradually up from the lower back area toward the neck. Apply some pressure into this but do not use full massage pressure at this point. Start out at the base of the back and then move your hands upward, along both sides of the spine toward the neck then move across the shoulders and work your way back down the back. Work on making the loops smaller as you do this step again so that the whole back can get relaxed.
Using the heels of your hands provides you a superb way to offer terrific and pointed pressure. Move the heels of your palms in small circles beginning in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides, upwards and then back toward the spinal column until you've done this to all the areas of the back.
Sit at the side of whoever is receiving the massage. Then, place one hand on top of the other and drive into the back a little bit with just your fingers. Begin at the spinal column and thrust steadily as you move your hands away from the spinal column and across the back then lightly glide your hands back across the back toward the spine. Repeat this step as you move upward along the back and then do it again on the other side of the person's back.
Massage the spinal column. Begin at the base of the spine and work up each of the sausage-y muscles on each side of the spinal column with a few fingers or your thumbs. Massage each node at least five times each so that you can work up a little bit of friction. Massage one side of the spine and then work on the other side.
Something that you must remember as you use each of these techniques is that it is good to re-relax the person between each part of the massage that you give. For example, after applying one technique, do the basic rub we talked about at the beginning of the article for several minutes.
