A Walk Down Memory Lane, History of the World Series

Baseball World Series Championship is competition for the title for the two best teams during the Major League Baseball season. The two best teams from the National League and the American League. Phillies Tickets are always available from season ticket holders. World Series of Baseball is one of the most historic sporting events in the United States, the first game was in 1903. In its 108 years of existence, The World Series Champiosnhip has had many Major League Baseball franchises win far more championships than the rest.

For Example, The Oakland Athletics, who previously played in Kansas City and Philadelphia, have the third most World Series titles of all time. The A's have been to the Baseball Championship as the American League winners 15 times and claimed 9 Championships. The team most recently took home the prize in 1989 when they were led by Jose Conseco and Rickey Henderson. The teams most successful championship run came started in 1972 and ended in 1974 when they dominated for three consecutive years. The teams during this time relied predominantly on outfielder Reggie Jackson and Hall of Fame Pitchers {Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue|Vida Blue and Catfish Hunter.

The New York Yankees, who represent the American League, have played in the Baseball World Series 40 times and have won the championship 27 times. Both the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics have won the most in Major League Baseball history. New York Yankees have been an extremely successful team and franchise the teams history, their best run during an incredible 45 year period from between 1920 and 1964. In this time period the Blue and White Pin Stripes went to the World Series a record 29 times and won the Championship 20. During these years, many of the Hall of Fame baseball players of all time played for the Yankees, including Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth. New York Yankees most recently won the World Series in 2009 when they were led by Alex Rodriquez and Derek Jeter.

Closest to the Yankees, the next most successful team in World Series history is the St Louis Cardinals. The St Louis Cardinals, who are in the National League, have been to the Title Game 17 times and have won the title 10 times. The Cardinals most recently won the World Series in 2006 when Albert Pujols and Scott Rolens led the team. The Cardinals had an incredible run of wins between 1926 and 1934 when they went to the series 5 times winning 3. World Series History is incredible and between 1942 and 1946 the Cardinals took home another 3 championships when Stan Musial was the leader of the team. Can the Cardinals do it again against the Rangers in 2011?
